Just a Few Years ago I went from working flat out 6 days a week as a nail technician making on average 20K a year to turning over 6 figures + each and every year since that and becoming one the top 10% income earners in the world.
I did this whilst working half the time and truly loving every minute of it.
I’m not going to tell you it was easy, or that it happened overnight. It took a little transition time to wriggle out of my nail/salon business but I can teach you exactly how to do that.

Unfortunately, over 50% of phone calls we get on a daily basis are from technicians who, like you are a Salon Owner, Hair or Beauty Professional. They’ve paid a small fortune to be crammed into a large class of other beauty therapists, makeup artists, salon owners, tattooists, and people who have never trained in beauty. They felt left behind by the tattooist and held back by those with little or no experience in the industry. They felt unable to ask any questions without feeling stupid.
These students left feeling completely inadequate after their training experience and they lacked the confidence to carry out the treatments alone. Quite often they were told it was their fault that they couldn’t pick up the skill!

Hi there, I’m Katy, the founder & the head trainer of the Permanent Training Academy.
I’m honestly an ordinary girl who has been very fortunate to make a lot of money in permanent make up.
I’d hit my version of rock bottom before I decided to make that career change.

I’m not saying all this to impress you but simply to impress upon you that life can change in an instant if you really want it to.
I know what it takes to prize yourself away from those low end but guaranteed "bread & butter" treatments when that's all you've ever known, to learn a high-end skill such as permanent makeup. It can be super scary when you have to invest your hard-earned money and you don't know if it will pay off.
I understand the challenge of getting friends and family to take you seriously – when they previously saw me as a low-cost nail technician to now becoming a high end specialist commanding hundreds of pounds per hour.
Fast forward just a few years and I ran over 50 permanent makeup clinics, became a fully qualified, insured and licensed teacher in permanent makeup, microblading & paramedical tattooing.
I was previously a self-employed mobile nail technician, charging just £17 per hour. I then went on to become a Salon Owner with 5 staff and visiting specialists. I worked as hard as I could to make a decent living but it was not a life. I was utterly exhausted & emotionally drained.
I now have 3 Diploma’s in Advanced Micropigmentation & have completed over 12,000 permanent makeup procedures whilst training and mentoring over 400 national & international students on a 1 to 1 basis.
Now I can’t come round to your house and get you out of bed each morning & make you put the hours in, but I do know this:
That if you have the hunger for success and a good work ethic, like myself, you too could be commanding high rates of pay per hour in just a few short months from now.
I’m talking about the kind of pay a doctor, lawyer or architect would expect after many years of study and practice.
I have put together a combination of methods I have learned throughout my extensive training in the UK, US, Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore and also with a number of Russian trainers in the UK.
As a trainer, I continue to develop via Continuing professional development (CPD) learning the most up to date methods & procedures in the industry.
Over my years in permanent makeup, I have reinvested and spent tens of thousands learning from the best of the best around the world, how to perfect each treatment so that you don’t have to. It has allowed me to cut down that learning curve for each of my students. It’s practically fool proof.
To say I'm obsessed with permanent makeup is a bit of an understatement. I bl**dy love it.
It’s been an absolute privilege either winning or being shortlisted for over 40 Industry, Training, Customer Service, Business, Entrepreneurial or Life Time Achievement awards, with the proudest moment of my career being named ‘Mentor of the Year’ by an Oscar Winning Actress at the 2019 Woman in Business Awards. It sometimes doesn’t feel real!
It has also been an honour to judge various industry awards and be asked to speak at International Permanent Makeup conferences on the subject of how to set up in business.
It’s like Christmas in my office on most days. I am regularly sent permanent makeup machines, pigments, anesthetics & new needles by manufacturers to “test drive” and provide valuable feedback on.
I help provide suggested improvements for new products even before they hit the market.
This truly gives me the edge when it comes to providing the best kits and start-up training options for each of my students, because I have not just the whole market, but things that haven’t even hit the market yet to choose from.
I have also thoroughly enjoyed being a regular permanent makeup & business advice expert for top industry magazines such as the Guild News, Salon Today and Spa Elemental and was even asked to appear on a on a prime time inspirational TV show documenting how my family lives in the top 10% of income earners.
I spent many years creating very niche permanent makeup courses just for a select few groups of students that I personally connect with.

Do you know your trainer? Some companies, especially those who have multiple locations, will simply find a freelance trainer once you have put your money down.
