Tracey trained 1 to 1 with Katy Jobbins at The Permanent Makeup Training Academy around 8 years ago. This month we caught up with her to see how she was getting on…
Tracey had previously been in the beauty industry but had given it a break to move into estate agency. However, she decided that estate agency was not for her and wanted to get back into beauty but go much more high end.
Here is what she had to say 8 years after her initial training with Katy.
On starting out…
‘I had a break from the beauty industry and worked in estate agency and it just took too many hours up, so I needed to work for myself.’
On building her business over the last 8 years and fitting it around her lifestyle…
‘It’s fantastic. Because I’ve got children its convenient because I can still be a mum. I’ve been able to do the school run and work around my family.’
On comparing the money she earns now as a permanent makeup artist in comparison to when she did general beauty….
‘It’s completely different. I work less hours and earn more money.’
On having Katy as a mentor and trainer over the years & changing to the latest machinery…
‘Fantastic. In fact, I moved over to the new machine. The machine I trained with originally was great and there was nothing actually wrong with it. But this new machine, the needles are cheaper, and once I got used to it, I worked between both machines until I felt completely confident to make the full transition to the new machine and Kate was great. She advised me on what needles to use and in fact, I’ve had some more advice this morning when I was here. It’s ongoing. It’s fantastic. It’s been ongoing advice. I’ve never felt like I couldn’t come here for advice, so its been great.’
