Beauty Therapist Trains in Permanent Makeup
To Get That Work/Life Balance! …
Denise was originally an artist and then went into Nail art, Brow tinting and 3D brows.
Denise spent around 6 months researching permanent makeup and determining which company to use to train her in permanent makeup.
Watch the following video to find out how Denise got on with her training with Katy Jobbins at the Permanent Makeup Training Academy over the week.
What she had to say about her training in Permanent Makeup …
“I loved art. I did my ‘A’ Level and didn’t really find the time to keep painting, so I took it into my nail work. I loved doing the nail art and then started to do a lot more brow work, tinting and 3D effect brows and soon realised that I could only get so far doing tinting and waxing, so it led me to permanent makeup to be able to offer my clients a bit more.
I spent quite a few months, probably about 6 months researching before I started the course. Although for the last few months I knew where I wanted to go, but wanted to make sure I was making the right decision.
Looking at Katy’s story, seeing her background and how she had come forward and how she is so approachable.
I have a daughter who is 6. I just seemed to be working a lot and not having enough time to spend with her.
My daughter says Mummy always works, mummy likes nails, mummy works at the salon, mummy likes the salon, so the drive is to work less and earn more.
The course has been structured perfectly, brilliantly, very well planned out. I didn’t expect to be doing so much so soon. I thought I be doing an awful lot more theory stuff before hand, so its been really exciting today. I was really pleased with tattooing my first brows on the dummy head, it went really well, good trainer.
I did a lot preparation work before attending the course and I’ve already got all my case studies lined up for when I finish the training.
It was really good seeing Katy perform a full treatment on a real client from start to finish. She was getting married and didn’t have any tails in the brows. It looked absolutely amazing, and the client was absolutely delighted.
Working on a client myself just felt so natural, it just sort of happened. I didn’t really have time to think about it or feel nervous.
You’ve got Katy there guiding you the whole time so from that perspective, it seemed easy, it was really fun and I really enjoyed it. It just required concentration.
The way that Katy introduced me to working on the lady for eyeliner was a smooth transition, I could just follow and Katy was guiding me. The lady was lovely as well. and looked fantastic afterwards. It was very exciting.
Katy made you feel that you were ready. Because you feel so comfortable around her, Katy is so good at getting the clients to relax which is extremely important as it made me relax too. She always makes sure they are comfortable and many have become good friends.
I am looking forward to doing lips tomorrow. I was a bit nervous about doing lips but having seen the lady that came in today had had her lips done by Katy before and they just looked beautiful and I couldn’t stop looking at them. So am very excited about tomorrow.
On her fourth days training and getting her brows done by Katy…
It was really good to work on Lips I really enjoyed it. It was lovely to see the colours coming through. it was great.
The course has been brilliant I’ve really loved it, I don’t want to go home.
I put brow makeup on everyday anyway it was important to feel how the treatment actually went and felt. But what an opportunity to have Katy do them. I wasn’t going to walk away without getting those done. I absolutely loved them straight away. I felt 100% confident with Katy doing them as well, actually not 100%, 150% because I completely trust her. I’m really, really pleased. I can’t believe I didn’t do it before.”
And 3 months later …
On Getting Her Initial Case Study Models …
I found I had too many people to take on for my case studies… I didn’t really have any problems filling it.
I have a lot of friends with darker hair, so want to do some more models with blond hair and some younger and older models.
Next Steps
I have a couple of full paying clients booked in which is really good. It’s motivating to me & obviously I want to make sure I do a really brilliant job for them.
At the moment I am charging £275 for brows but 6 months down the line depending on how busy I am I aim to put them up with the more experience I get.”
