When You Ask Someone Like Gemma ``Who Are You?``, You'll Hear Them Answer Something Like;
“Well, I’m a single mum, I’m just a nail technician, I’m a childminder, I’m a scout leader, I’m dyslexic, I am ADHD, I’m from Burgess Hill”.
I even hear my children do it: “I’m a good girl, I’m a football player; I’m a nerd; I’m the troublemaker.”
They don’t answer who they are; they answer what they do, their social status, or how they see themselves in life.
They define themselves by their family roles and their “disadvantages.”
They answer with “what” they do, because it’s almost impossible to answer “who” they are. They can’t tell you who they are, because they don’t honestly know yet.
Gemma Doesn’t Care So Much About Earning a Fortune
She wanted to create a career that helps others feel more beautiful, that reflects and utilises all of who she really is. As a single parent it’s kind of a big deal, choosing to invest in such a high end skill. Scary big changes when she’s usually a creature of habit.
I honestly believe that just knowing what you want and showing up is 99% of the battle.
Gemma was terrified she might not be able to read or would be too panicked to complete the training.
If you ask some of the most inspiring entrepreneurs around the world, they’ll tell you that there are so many hidden gifts in Dyslexia, ADHD & OCD. There is no such thing as “normal”. We are all somewhere on the spectrum.
I Knew Gemma Had What It Takes After 22 Years of Running a Successful Nail Business Whilst Raising Her Son.
It was such a joy to see how she totally broke through the imaginary ceiling she placed on herself and finally accepted these could be her super power, and all of our clients and students coming in for treatments loved her and their new reflections.
Just like everyone I teach, there is a whole other level to Gemma that is the real, true, genuine sum and substance of who she really is.
That Authenticity Can Be Found at Your Absolute Core, When You Truly Come Out of Your Comfort Zone.
It is the composite of all your incredibly unique gifts, skills, abilities, interests, talents, insights, how you are with people, how you show up and wisdom you’ve learned along the way.
It would have been so tragic if a very different, more vibrant Gemma was left buried under a pile of endless ‘if only’ lists, and she continued accepting everyone else’s expectations.
The Real and Best Version of You Flourished …
… when you made other people happy, unself-consciously, when you shed a little tear after every client thanked you, when you felt happiest and most fulfilled when you were doing what you were really good at.
The YOU that created your lovely garden clinic and has already gained the trust of many clients who’ve booked in because they know your standard of work.
The YOU that existed before you were scarred by comparing yourself to others or wounded by a client having a hard day.
It is the YOU that wants to require you to be more than you are right now.
The best version doesn’t even know what it is to give up, settle for less, to walk away before you’ve even attempted.
Gemma Has Seriously Surprised Herself.
She was a real natural so we spent our spare time learning in vivid detail, who the real Gemma truly is before the world made her feel less than.
Thank-you Gemma for my beautiful gift. Like you, it’s a one of a kind. Hand customised jewellery holder. So thoughtful and I’m really grateful.
